The Krempp Gallery is a part of the Jasper Arts Center, a multi-purpose community arts center which was established in 1975. The arts center hosts a number of performances in its 675 seat auditorium every year. It also has an active in-school educational outreach program and promotes the visual arts through twelve annual exhibits, workshops, and lectures. The Krempp Gallery doubles as a lobby for the Arts Center during major events. Jasper Community Arts (JCA) is a Department of the City of Jasper.
This competition is open to any artist who is a current or former resident of Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan or Ohio.
$2,000 in Merit Awards will be presented at the discretion of the Juror.
This year's juror is Edward Trover. He is a visual artist living and working in Terre Haute, IN. He is currently the Curator or Collections & Exhibitions at the Sheldon Swope Art Museum and the Director of the Terra Haute Museum of Modern Art. Trover's interdisciplinary practice includes: printmaking, painting, scultpure, writing, video, photography and multiple other form of media. He received his MFA in Visual Studies from the Pacific Northwest College of Art in 2013, and his BFA in Sculpture and Printmaking from Indiana State University in 2010. His work has been screen and exhibited in the US and abroad including shows at Disjecta in Portland, OR; Printed Matter in New York; the Experimental Film Festival in Portland, OR; and at Videoholica in Varna, Bulgaria. As part of the collective Danger Punch, Trover's first book Things We Should Have Said was published in 2013 by Publication Studio in Portland, OR. He has also had work published in Untitled Magazine, Submit, The Hand Magazine, and #RealLife on consquenceofsound.net.
Specifications and Restrictions
Work may be two-dimensional or three-dimensional. Size restricted to 72 - 90 inches with a weight limit not to exceed 100 pounds. ALL WORK MUST BE ORIGINAL, COMPLETED WITHIN THE LAST THREE YEARS, AND NOT PREVIOUSLY HUNG IN THE KREMPP GALLERY.
NOTE: All selections will be made only from digital images submitted!
A non-refundable jury fee of $25 will be assessed for one or two images. Awards will be based upon digital presentation. Accepted images will be kept for publicity purposes including color reproduction of the postcard in the local media. Images can be sent via mail or e-mail and should be in JPG format All submissions must be named by the artist's last name followed by the first initial, and then the title of the artwork. A completed image list on the entry from must accompany each entry. Jasper Community Arts is not responsible for loss or damage to entries submitted. Entries may be mailed with a completed hard copy form, check, and images on CD or e-mailed as attachments (good only for credit card payments). Attachments not conforming to size and type will not be opened.

Presentation and Framing
Canvas paintings must be stretched, framed and wired; warped canvases will be rejected. Drawings, watercolors and other mixed media must be under Plexiglass. Do not ship any paintings under glass. (Hand-delivered paintings may be under glass.
Delivery and Return of Accepted Entries
Accepted artwork must be hand-delivered or shipped to the Jasper Arts Center, Krempp Gallery, by the date indicated. Crates must be sturdy and reusable. STYROFOAM PEANUT PACKING IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. All works will be returned in the same crates and manner as received. Shipping costs are entirely the responsibility of the artist.
