The ARTventures 2017 session of visual art classes offered by the Jasper Community Arts. Every day is a fun day at ARTventures!

NEW! Four Whole Weeks of Classes Now!

All Visual Arts classes are held at the JCA satellite art classroom, located in the lower level of the Jasper Municipal Swimming Pool building, 1405 Bartley Street, Jasper.


Pre-registration is required for each of these classes and class size is limited. Call the Jasper Arts Center at (812) 482-3070 for further information, materials lists and to register.

Painting for ALL Levels
Week 3: June 19-23

This is a class for beginners and experienced folks too.  The idea is we can all learn more.  We will use acrylics on canvas.  We will start with still life but if weather permits we will also paint outdoors.  Wear old clothes or an apron.  This is a great class!

Adult ARTventures

Form in the Landscape - Oil Painting

Saturday, June 3 (one day class)
Time: 9:00-noon, with hour lunch break
High School - Adults
Instructor: Abby Laux
Fee: $50
We see depth and dimension in the landscape because of light illuminating the forms.  Learn to see the difference in values when you look at a scene and how to apply those values in your landscape painting to create a more convincing sense of space.  Demonstrations will be done with oil paints; exercises by participants can be completed with oil or acrylic paints.
Adult Beginners Clay
Tuesdays & Thursdays: June 6-22
Time: 5:30-7:00pm

Enjoy an evening filled with clay and wheel-throwing on the beginner's level.  During this class we will learn how to create three-dimensional forms and wheel-throwing techniques.  Limit 8 participants. 
Adult Intermediate/Advanced Clay

High School - Adults

Drawing the figure is a fundamental skill for anybody interested in making art.  In this class we will explore traditional and untraditional methods in rendering the human form.

Portraits - artists love them and fear them!  In this workshop we will break down the parts and pieces into easy to render shapes.  Here line and shadow help define personality.
